چکیده

It is well established that fluoride plays an important role in the prevention of dental caries. Fluoridation of drinking water has been a successful public health measure in reducing the prevalence of tooth decay.' Beneficial results have also ensued from incorporation of stannous fluoride into a dentifrice.2 Wellock and Brudevold3 and others4,5 have reported a reduction in carious surfaces, as compared with controls, after one or more topical applications of an acidic fluoride and phosphate solution to teeth. The tooth mineral hydroxyapatite decomposes and calcium fluoride adheres to the apatite and can serve as a source of fluoride for subsequent conversion of hydroxyapatite to fluorapatite.6 Recently there has been interest in the application of physical chemistry principles to hydroxyapatite, the primary mineral of teeth. Gray7 has studied dissolution behavior of enamel and applied kinetics to charac-

The purpose of this study was to assess the fluoride release of three fluoride- containing materials exposed to fluoride solutions. This study compared the initial fluoride release and release following re-fluoridation (neutral or acidic 2% NaF) of three different filling materials, conventional glass ionomer cement (CG1C), resin- modified glass ionomer cement (RMGIC), polyacid- modified compos...

Adsorption kinetics of fluoride on low cost materials.

Adsorption is one important technique in fluoride removal from aqueous solutions. The viability of adsorption techniques is greatly dependent on the development of adsorptive materials. A large number of materials have been tested at a fluoride concentration greater than 2 mg/l, and the lowest limit for fluoride reduction by them is about 2 mg/l. Decreasing the fluoride concentration to less th...

Comparison of Fluoride Uptake into Enamel from Sodium Fluoride Gel 0.05% Produced in Iran and Stannous Fluoride 0.4% Gel

Background & Aims: The present study compared fluoride uptake into enamel from sodium fluoride 0.05% gel and American Dental Association approved fluoride gel (Stannous fluoride 0.4% , Sultan Co.) when used on healthy enamel of the intact teeth. Methods: In an experimental study, 30 intact teeth extracted for orthodontic purposes were randomly assigned into two groups of 15 teeth. The teeth wer...

The Frequency of Pro-Fluoride Verses Anti-Fluoride Posts on Instagram

Fluoride is now accessible in a variety of forms, including water, toothpaste, mouth rinses, and professional fluoride therapy at dental clinics. A body of data supports the use of systemic and topical fluoride from various sources to prevent dental caries. Fluoride ions are absorbed by the enamel prior to tooth eruption and produce fluorohydroxyapatite, which is more resistant to acid attack t...
